Blood Services

Every time you donate blood, you have the chance to save three lives. The Red Cross philosophy is that the blood supply is a community responsibility – not a family responsibility – thereby eliminating the need for families to replace or provide blood.

Over the past year, the Catawba Valley Chapter held approximately 350 blood drives, collecting 17,500 units of life-saving blood. These tremendous results are due to more than 100 blood drive sponsors in Alexander, Caldwell and Catawba Counties.

Blood donors must be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health.

As sometimes blood drives change at the last minute, it is a good idea to check on the drives before attending.
